Hey, my name is Kait
…but I’ve also been referred to as “the plant lady”, and I love it. I also love that my daughter is growing up in an indoor jungle and thinks that’s totally normal… I graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Plant Sciences but it wasn’t until one fateful day at the Farmer’s Market where I became obsessed with succulents. The variety, the colour, the shape and the texture “succ-ed” me in. The idea for Fat Plant Farm developed out of my need to display my growing succulent addiction in a unique way. I started playing around with making my own concrete pots, and voilà!
Fat Plant Farm began as a home based business in February 2016 where I’d pop up around Regina at handmade markets and street fairs. The concrete planters were poured, sanded and sealed at home in my garage. In June of 2018, I officially began working out of a studio located at 1817 McAra Street. This space has slowly grown into a retail plant shop. This has allowed me to bring in more plants and to provide a more customized and intimate experience for our customers. I have found an immense amount of joy in nurturing houseplants in my home. My mission is to encourage people to bring the outdoors in so that they too can discover the benefits of living with plants!
